Housed in an early 18th Century building on Coney Street – next to York’s historic Mansion House, Rosa’s Thai restaurant in York is situated a mere 5-minutes walk away from the popular York Shambles. It’s perfectly located within the city centre, so you can enjoy our curries and Pad Thais after a Harry Potter tour around the historical streets.

Rosa’s Thai York restaurant retains many of the building’s original features, from timber framing and exposed brick walls, which have been mixed with contemporary touches of plush banquettes and lacquered tiled detailing to create a warm and inviting restaurant that mixes tradition with modern Bangkok comfort. The restaurant also has an enclosed courtyard for al fresco dining in the warmer months and will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
The bright and colourful Bangkok-inspired Thai dishes on our menu have been carefully created to bring you the authentic flavours of Thailand in plates designed to be shared with friends and family. You’ll find there’s plenty of choice for gluten free, meat-free, halal diners – plus an excellent children’s menu that comes with a fun activity sheet to keep the little ones entertained as you enjoy your meal.
Early birds will be pleased to hear that we also serve a scrumptious Thai inspired fry ups for brunch in Rosa’s York! Sweet brioche, drippy eggs, fresh berries, spicy sausages and omelettes; so many delicious ways to start the day! Available from 10am until noon in Rosa’s Thai York.
We know that cravings for the spicy Papaya Salad and the go-to Pad Thai can creep up on you when you least expect them, so we always try our best to accommodate walk-in diners. However, our prime York city centre location means we can get pretty busy, so book your table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Students, we’ve got you covered with 15% off your total food bill from Monday – Thursday, just bring your valid student card and we’ll do the rest!
If you’re not in the mood to join us at our York restaurant, you can order Thai food straight to your door or just drop by to pick up a takeaway.

We got summer rolls, drunken noodles, pad thai and tom yum noodle soup which all was delicious as were the drinks (Thai lemon iced tea). We were served by Luke who was incredibly friendly and attentive and had lots of helpful suggestions when we were struggling to decide what to order. We were kindly given a free mango sorbet for our friends birthday complete with a candle! Looking forward to visiting again!

I would recommend this place the price is extremely good and the service charge clearly show on the bill so that should be no problem but the service charge is worth it as all of the staff is very friendly and helpful especially pucca. I would come again .

Rosa's Thai York is amazing. The food is authentic, pictures on the walls showing the family adds to the very welcoming feel to the place. Being met at the door by Luke and taken to our table and served by Luke made us - as mentioned - feel very welcome. Luke saw to all our needs and has an answer for all our questions including the drinks - I had a black vanilla tea which was new for me, and I am a seasoned Thai food consumer! We had a vegetarian with us and their needs were met by tailoring to their requirements. The reasons I've given four stars for atmosphere - I hate doing it - but the noise level was such that I couldn't hear my companions on the other side of the table. Some love this connectivity to a crowd, but I have hearing issues and it was a problem for me. But this did not dissuade me from coming again and the food was amazing. well done Luke!

We only popped in for a lunchtime snack so had a couple of starters instead of a main course. The staff were very friendly. The food was good but a bit on the expensive side for Thai. The lager was very expensive too, probably with it being in the middle of York! Don't think we'll rush back. But don't let my review put you off because it is a nice restaurant.

Fuang provided very curtious and professional service. The 10% charge is clearly mentioned so should not be a surprise and it is optional you can ask for it to be removed or adjusted. Staff also clearly explained this. Food was really good, well cooked and extremely tasty. We got some cocktails which were all freshly made and did not disappoint. If back in York I would stop by again. Well done team.
